Last year PILF had a record number of Grant applicants and recipients. This year followed suit, with 140 1L students attending our introductory meeting. While our board was enthusiastic about the number of students invested in public interest work, we worried about how competitive the application process would be for summer grant stipends.
On October 21, 2019 Dean Guzman announced a commitment to provide a guaranteed summer stipend to any 1L or 2L student who pursues qualifying public interest work and who satisfies the criteria established by PILF and Gould.
This is a historic moment for PILF and USC Gould School of Law. The Dean’s continued support of students in their pursuit of Public Interest careers will allow our community to flourish.
It is with overwhelming gratitude that we thank Dean Guzman for his continued support of PILF. In addition, PILF would like to recognize both present and past PILF students for carrying the momentum to keep the PILF community strong and engaged throughout the years, the alumni who have supported these stipends, and our faculty advisors, Professor Clare Pastore and Professor Scott Bice, for their wisdom and guidance.
